Hello,

We are going to occur Open Data Day event in the 22th February in Minsk,
Belarus.

Do you know person from EU who works with open data projects?
And who potentially could visit us and share own experience in the field?

Opendata movement just started in our country and every best case or good
examples which are opened for belarusian audience will be fruitful.

The speaker, may be a pirate, will be able to help a local pirate movement
to increase influence to Belarus too.

We are ready to pay road and accomodation costs in Minsk and send visa
invitation as soon we get an answer.

All my best,
Svetlana

Dear Svetlana,

this sounds really interesting!

Two of our candidates for the European Parliament elections - Anke
Domscheit-Berg and Martin Kliehm - are very active in the Open Data
field. I have put them in CC, perhaps one of them can participate in the
conference.

Best wishes,
Julia

Hi all,

what would be the focus of the conference? Open government data in general, particular topics like Open City Data, open spending, environmental data, meta data of cultural heritage items, geo information…? Is it a conference with talks or more like a hands-on hackday?

Both Anke and I are quite knowledgeable, but we are also well connected and know experts from the Wikimedia Foundation, the Open Knowledge Foundation, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Europeana, or people who have been responsible for building national open data portals in the UK or who are working for the European Commission on that topic. Would you prefer a pirate party member, or the person best suited for the topic? One or several persons?

I'm just asking so that we can figure out what would be the best match for your purpose. How many attendees do you expect on the Open Data Day? Is it more like an internal pirate/geek event where topics could be more brain-boggling, or would you like to address a public audience? Would it make sense to apply for public funding?

I'm looking forward to your answers, cheers
Martin

Hello,

1. We will focus on success stories in Open Data movement.

2. We are ineterested to gather developers as well as officials.
The main issue to show audience examples which can help them to sread
understanding of Open Data and origin
of the process - open Goverment, Institutions, organization and so on.

3. It is more like conference than hackday. But we can include some
workshops if people want to do it.

4. If it is a pirate, it will be twice good =)

5. We can cover about 500 USD price for accomodation and travel tickets.

6. We think it will be about 50-75 attendees.

7. We want to do it as not so formal but officials will be invited too.
May be we devide public-social part (more formal) and developers part
(more informal)

8. " Would it make sense to apply for public funding?"

This quection I don't see clearly.

9. Now we collect and develop a program.
