Hi everybody,

I would like to invite you to our 5th board meeting. It
will take place on Thursday, 7 pm UTC+2 on Mumble:

mumble.piratenpartei-nrw.de Room Bund -> Junge Piraten

Some of the board members have been absent last time without prior
notice. Please make sure to let us know in advance if you can't make it
to the board meeting, so we will know whether we'll be able to pass
motions!

The timetable is being created here:

https://ype.piratenpad.de/board-meeting-2013-10-10

The main topic will be the future strategic development of YPE. There is
a thread on this issue in the general mailing list that hasn't received
a lot of replies yet. I would like all board members (and others as
well!) to give some feedback on their ideas for the future of YPE before
the board meeting on Thursday.

I've also added a motion to Thursday's agenda that I would like you to
have a look at.

I look forward to hearing from you. Everbody is welcome to attend the
board meeting and ask questions!

Julia

As I can't be there, I want to voice my opinion here although it might
be a bit late [sorry for that].

I'm not a member of the board, so I'm giving this opinion solely as an
individual. I think everyone knows that, but... yeah.

I like the general idea of your proposal. However, I think it would be
possible to go even further and oblige people to donate money they
receive for taking part in events on behalf of YPE, at least in cases
where they have received financial support from YPE to attend in the
first place.

Why? If you do have expenses that YPE doesn't or cannot cover while
attending an event on YPE's behalf, you may as well use any money you
receive for partaking to cover those expenses. However, I don't see why
YPE should fund an individual to receive money from elsewhere. I don't
think that's YPE's job since it is not an employer.

While I trust the people in the organisation to make this decision by
themselves, I do think it's one's duty, too, and that the rules should
reflect that.

Therefore, my proposal is to change the motion in that people are
obliged to donate back from money they receive any amount they prior
received in funding by YPE to attend the same event that paid them.

Hi Yuri,

thanks for your input, I agree! I actually didn't think of the case
where people get paid for an event but don't get the travel costs paid
(usually it's both or neither), but I will change the proposal
accordingly.
