Hi everyone,
after our founding last year, we'll have our very fest "regular" general
assembly / EPIC this year. And you could be the ones hosting it!
Since last year's EPIC was in Sweden, it would be nice to have this one
in another geographical area of Europe so as to keep it fair for
everyone (especially regarding travel costs and time). Some of our
members have already come forward and said they would like to host
– Most prominently the Young Pirates of France and Austria. Germany and
Finland have also hinted at possibly wanting to host I think.
We put together a list of rough requirements for the EPIC. Most of those
should be self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, feel free to
contact me.
* Room for at least 50 people
* Internet access
* Projector for displaying the agenda, motions…
* Electricity (powering laptops)
* Close to (cheap) hosting facilities for up to 50 people
* Cheap to travel to from most YPE member countries (at least for this
year because some member organizations don't have enough money to pay
their membership fee)
* Video recording of the official part, or even better an online
transmission (one way)
* A printer (no color printing required)
The EPIC has to take place some time between 1st of May and 30th of
September (§4.1 of our statutes). The meeting should probably be on one
weekend, but we're open for other plans (But keep in mind that doing
events on weekdays is going to be tricky due to job, school and
university schedules).
We don't have an exact financial budget yet, since the financial
situation at the time of the EPIC is a bit hard to predict right now.
But please be aware that YPE isn't exactly swimming in money, and most
of the membership fees will be used for the travel costs of the
delegates.
I'll keep you updated if more details or requirements emerge.
